1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to SheetSteps, including sheetsteps.com, app.sheetsteps.com, the SheetSteps Google Sheets add-on, and related product, support, tutorial, template, and communication services (together, the “Services”).
2. Information we collect
Account and identity information
When you create an account, we may receive your name, email address, password credential in securely hashed form, profile image, account preferences, and workspace membership information. If you use Google Sign-In, Google provides the basic profile information you approve, such as your name, email address, profile image, and a Google account identifier.
Spreadsheet and task content
When you ask SheetSteps to scrape a page, analyze a workbook, repair a formula, clean data, or run an automation, we process the URLs, cells, formulas, instructions, files, and output needed to complete that request. The Google Sheets add-on may access the active spreadsheet or selected ranges only when you invoke a feature that needs that data.
Usage, device, and support information
We may collect feature usage, job status, credit consumption, browser and device details, approximate location derived from an IP address, error logs, security events, and messages you send to support. We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand whether the public website and product are working as expected.
Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe. SheetSteps receives subscription, invoice, plan, and transaction status information, but does not store complete payment-card numbers.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and secure your account and workspace;
- perform the spreadsheet, scraping, AI, and automation tasks you request;
- save recipes, settings, usage, previews, and job history;
- process subscriptions and enforce plan allowances;
- provide support, service notices, and account communications;
- prevent abuse, investigate errors, and improve reliability; and
- comply with law and protect users, SheetSteps, and the public.
SheetSteps does not sell your personal information or Google user data, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
4. Google user data
SheetSteps requests only the Google permissions needed for the feature you choose. Basic Google profile information is used to sign you in and connect activity to your SheetSteps account. Spreadsheet data is used to display, analyze, transform, preview, or write the result you requested. We do not read unrelated Google Drive files merely because you signed in with Google.
SheetSteps’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. When information is shared
We share information only as needed to operate the Services, honor your instructions, protect the Services, or comply with law. Service providers may include hosting and database providers, Stripe for billing, Resend for product email, analytics and security providers, and the scraping or AI providers needed to complete a task you initiate. These providers receive only the information necessary for their role and are expected to protect it.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
6. Storage, security, and retention
We use access controls, encryption in transit, protected secret storage, session expiration, logging, and other reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No internet service is completely risk-free, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep account and task information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Services, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet legal obligations, and maintain security. Retention periods vary by data type. Temporary processing data and logs may be deleted sooner; billing and legal records may be retained longer where required.
7. Your choices and deletion
You may disconnect Google access from your Google Account permissions page. You may also correct account information or request account and associated data deletion from the account settings in app.sheetsteps.com. If you cannot access your account, email hello@sheetsteps.com from the address connected to it. We may retain limited records where law, security, fraud prevention, or an active dispute requires it.
8. International use and children
SheetSteps and its providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border processing. The Services are intended for people who are at least 13 years old and are not directed to children under 13.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as SheetSteps changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a material change affects how Google user data or personal information is used.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@sheetsteps.com.
